Useful resource

As a language teacher and administrator, I appreciated this overview of various professional development options targeted to our specific field. The chapters are:
1. The nature of teacher education
2. Workshops
3. Self-monitoring
4. Teacher support groups
5. Keeping a teaching journal
6. Peer observation
7. Teaching portfolios
8. Analyzing critical incidents
9. Case analysis
10. Peer coaching
11. Team teaching
12. Action research
Each chapter included a discussion of the intended benefits of each option and suggestions for successful implementation. Throughout, there were also "Reflection" questions and "Vignettes" from contributors around the world, which broke up the text but didn't add much value to the book in my opinion.

The author analyses important teacher development issues in a simple and logical way. A useful book for all teachers, and specifically, for those who want to develop professionally but do not know how to start! The book provides sample answers of teachers who did, for example, self-observation, compiled a teaching portfolio or discussed problems in a research seminar or a workshop.
